The goddess was listening (or at least the guys at Canada Post)! The yarn arrived! Poor koigu was quickly cast aside (yet again).
I had enough time (while kids played quietly) to do this lovely swatch out of Sonata in Sapphire Print:
And, cast on my Chickami and join the Knitalong. I have all the tools I need (I hope) to knit this baby up while I'm watching the kids play on the beach.
I also want to tell everyone this was not Elann's fault. They provided perfect customer service. It was weird the package took twice as long as normal to arrive. There's a pending labour dispute, and I guess a postal employee just started working to rule or striking earlier than everyone else. But, it doesn't matter now...I'm on vacation.

My yarn order from Elann is lost! They're tracing the package, but I haven't heard anything (Elann has been excellent with keeping me informed). I'm bummed because it's been well over the usual delivery time and I really wanted the cotton to make a chickami while I'm on vacation. Maybe the yarn goddess is listening and will make sure it comes today. If it doesn't, it looks like I'll be doing socks while we're away.
I've been keeping busy working on my koigu sweater. It's moving along nicely since it's an easy knit.
I don't want to take this one up to the cottage because there's no air conditioning and there's lots of colours. I really need a summer stash so I don't run into these problems in the future (wink). Have a great week!

Not much happening in my knitting world this week. The kids' daycare is on their annual two-week shutdown so I'm home with them doing fun stuff. This means no real time for knitting. Also, my Elann order is slower than usual and I'm still waiting for my Sonata cotton to arrive so I can make a chickami. I have been doing a bit of knitting on my koigu sweater (from VK Fall 2002). I have the sleeves done and am about 1 row away from finishing the bottom of the body.
The photograph cannot due the koigu colours justice--they're just gorgeous.
I also decided not to use my 6 skeins of Rowan Summer Tweed in Bouquet for Venus. I think it's too fancy for my life (which rarely involves dressing up or going out) and I want a top I'll wear for everyday-living. So now I have to find a tank pattern (not Smooch again thank you very much) for this aran-weight yarn. Shouldn't be too hard. I might even see if it'll work for Chickami--especially if my yarn doesn't come soon.

Hooray! It's done! I actually finished it on Saturday, but was too busy to post. I really like it! My only complaint is that it's longer than I would like (meaning the neckline plunges a bit too much too) but I think that will be remedied by a washing since cotton does tend to shrink. There's more pictures of the tank in my gallery for those wishing other views (something that might prove more helpful than the photos with the pattern).
I also got to finish these for Emma:
I had just enough yarn which is nice because there's no leftovers. I actually had to steal a bit from the first sock to finish the second one. Emma is pleased with them, but Xander wants a pair too. I don't have any obviously-non-girlish sock yarn for him, so I'll try to put him off until I get some. He's 2 so he'll soon forget.
And, lest you think I am without knitting, I got back to my Koigu sweater that has been languishing in the knitting basket while I've been tempted with other things. I'm not super motivated to finish it since I can't wear it until fall, and I'm waiting for my order from Elann to arrive so I can do more tanks, but it's still nice knitting for now.
