Mexico on my mind
Haven't been knitting much this week, instead Craig and I have been sitting in front of the computer researching our Mexican trip. We're going to the Mayan Riviera and we're looking for the perfect resort. Problem is they all look perfect! I can't wait to feel the sand on my toes, the sun on my (pasty white) skin and sip a pina colada in the pool. But... I have so much work to do before that can happen-sigh.
The shrug is coming along. There should be no problem getting it done before I go. I spare you the a photo of 2 inches of black knitting. I only had to do three swatches before I got the right needle size (pretty average for me), which though important always feels like a waste of time when I'm anxious to do a project.
Joined the knitflame list the other day and am enjoying it immensly. I'm a closet bitch and like being in catty company!

A Change of Plans
The vacation time is booked off, now we just gotta book the trip! Cancun/Riviera Maya are the likely locations. We're just looking for the right place at the right price.
Now that I know we're taking a tropical vacation my knitting priorities have changed. This does not mean I'm knitting a bikini. But, I do want a little something to put on at night and this pashmina shrug from the spring Interweave Knits is just the thing.
No pashmina for this grad student though. I'm making mine with On Line Linie 45 Padua (50% cotton 50% microfiber) in a stylish black, that I picked up at Elann. I'm swatching tonight and think I can get this done for the May 24 departure. I mean it's only two 3/4 length sleeves and a back (famous last words). All other projects will have to wait for now, I want to look good for the Mexican night life!

Went to the Creative Sewing and Needlework Festival yesterday. It was rather bland. There wasn't too much knitting stuff there. I did see some neat things, and got to touch some Colinette Giotto (which is as lovely as it looks) but didn't buy any yarn. Don't be worried though, I did spend a bundle on tools and gadgets. I got some 5mm brittany birch double points to do my Sitcom chic sleeves, stitch markers, those rubber ring markers, point protectors, buttons and these extra cute sweaters to keep your double points together:
I think I've hit a yarn-saturation point. I have enough potential projects in the stash that I don't want to add until I've worked on them (well, except the Kilim jacket). But that's cool because there's lots in the stash.
The basic bag is knit up and blocked, awaiting assembly. Maybe I'll feel like doing that tonight. I'm also almost done the main part of the sitcom chic. I want to hurry and get these done so I can take them with me on vacation at the end of May. Craig and I are uncharacteristically doing something spontaneous and irresponsible and spending our tax return on a vacation. We're thinking Cancun. We never had a honeymoon (we've been married almost 9 years) so it's time to go. Too bad I don't have the body for it, or I could be knitting a bikini.
